Dedicated to the memory of Larry D. Lundquist (Pepa)

Tribute to Larry D. Lundquist (Pepa)

Army Veteran retired Cable Splicer and General Forman for Southern Bell, Larry Lundquist’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death.  Larry passed away on May, 21st, 2020 at the age of 82.  His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile.  Despite the pain, Larry came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Larry was born in Williams Port PA, 1938 and graduated from South Williams Port High school.  During his high school years, he worked at the YMCA “Young Means Christian Association” at the bowling alley as a pinspotter/pinsetter.   Larry and his friend Paul Shemary worked together and would manually reset pins and return the ball.  Their pay was in the form of coins and Paul didn’t like pennies, so as they walked home from work, Paul would throw out his pennies.  Larry would walk behind him and collect and gather all Paul’s pennies.  One of Larry’s favorite quotes was “Ones man’s junk is another man’s treasure”.  This quote not only held true back then, but continued throughout his life into the age of 82. Larry later served in the Military Service, Army branch as Private Larry D. Lundquist, from March 15, 1956 to November 18th 1958.  At some point Larry moved to Florida and lived in the homestead area, worked as a Cable Splicer and General Forman for Southern Bell.  After retiring from Southern Bell he did odds and end jobs until he made his final retirement and moved to Ocala Florida where he spent his remaining days and enjoy life.

Larry loved coaching Baseball and Softball.  The neighbor kids all loved him; he became known as “Mr. L”.  Larry was known to fix anything and everything.  All the children would bring their bikes to fix and as time passed, it was motorcycles and then cars.  Larry taught his children in their young years to become entrepreneurs, by introducing us to mowing yards and delivering local news paper’s known as The Guide.

Larry loved to travel and celebrating his birthday, but his greatest love was the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met and he could make friends with any stranger with conversation.

Larry was a loving husband, great friend and the best father.  He is survived by his wife, Helen Lundquist; his children, Linda Lundquist, Larry Lundquist, Cindy Diaz, Kurt Lundquist and Leeman Moore; his grandchildren, Christopher Schollmeyer, Daniel Lundquist, Kimberly Lundquist Chasson, Courtney Lundquist Whol, Amber Lundquist, Jake Diaz, and Jessie Diaz; his great grandchildren, Sara Schollmeyer and Emily Schollmeyer. One great grandchild was in womb when Larry Passed, Porter  Chasson, but we all know you met Porter in the crossing of two spiritual worlds and are looking and watching over us now.
